CONTROL Resonant abilities and how to unlock them

Traversal powers come from Faults, while combat powers come from defeating Resonant bosses. If you need Reach or Shift to cross a blocked route, hunt the appropriate Fault; another weapon upgrade will not unlock that movement skill. ^[01]

Combat choices are not all equipped at once

The Artist offers Barrage, Volatile Anomaly or Shield. Barrage throws projectiles; Volatile Anomaly creates a throwable entity; Shield absorbs damage and enables a bash while dodging. The first selection is a choice, not an immediate unlock of the entire group.

Later documented boss groups include Push or Ground Slam from The Dancer, Spore Burst or Growth from The Collective, and Spike or Astral Rebuke from The Physicist. Changing a choice

Use the ability slab in the Gap. The cited guide explains that changing a mutually exclusive initial choice requires a Reset Item, obtained from bosses or vendors. Before committing, read both descriptions and consider whether you need protection, crowd control or a damage source. A generic 'best ability' answer can overlook the encounters you are trying to solve.

Powers and your weapon work together

Melee forms and finishers are a separate part of the build. Living Shards unlock weapon options, while boss progression opens combat-power selections. Review weapon roles before pairing a narrow attack with another narrow attack and leaving yourself without a way to control a group. ^[01]
