Combo finishers become available to purchase at Aberrant Strength 15. Equip the one you unlock, complete your normal primary combo and keep pressing the primary attack button. Split Pivot and Split Orbit require an additional follow-through input before their main effect.

Unlocking your first finisher

Enter the Gap outside combat and use the sword-like upgrade stone. Weapon upgrades raise Aberrant Strength; reaching 15 is the threshold, not an automatic free finisher. You still need the resources shown on the selected node. Check the in-game cost rather than assuming every form shares one price.

Six roles to choose from

FinisherMain role described in the launch guide
Concussive BeatdownRepeated fist hits with strong Falter if the sequence connects
Uppercut SurgeLaunches enemies into the Lifted state
Wide EdgeA broad, forceful swing that creates space
Spin EdgeMultiple spinning hits; positioning matters to land them
Split PivotA forward spinning blade with status-focused upgrades
Split OrbitA blade that circles Dylan for continuing nearby damage

These descriptions compare behavior, not a numerical tier list. Later upgrades change each option, and a finisher that misses part of its sequence will not produce the result described for a full connection.

When the attack does not trigger

Confirm that a finisher is purchased and selected, then try the uninterrupted primary sequence in the Gap's practice arena. Pressing the secondary button can instead perform a learned switch attack. Split Pivot and Split Orbit take a fifth primary press after their preliminary swipe, so ending on the fourth input can look like a failed finisher.

The default primary buttons described by IGN are Square on PlayStation and X on Xbox; use your current binding if you remapped controls. Avoid testing the sequence inside a crowd that interrupts it before the last input.

Changing the setup

The weapon tree can be reset with a Reset Item. The cited demonstration allows further adjustment while still in the Gap after that reset; leaving locks in the new allocation. Try the arena before returning to Manhattan. For the shorter decision about starting forms, see best weapon by role.
