For quick single-target pressure, start with Strike. Pick Glaive if you want a wider arc to catch groups; choose Cleave if you prefer repositioning for back attacks. These are different roles, so there is no source-backed universal winner for every encounter.

Pair the primary with a secondary

Crush is the hammer option: its blunt damage and strong Falter make it useful when you want to break armor and create an execution opening. Drill concentrates piercing attacks in a line and deals sharp damage. Extend covers a wider space with a staff-like attack. Their charge behavior differs, so practice the timing rather than holding every attack the same way.

An editorial starting point is Strike plus Crush for focused pressure with an armor-breaking option. Glaive plus a narrower secondary can cover the opposite weakness. These are recommendations based on the described roles, not measured damage rankings.

Your first pick is not permanent

Unlock another form with Living Shards, then switch in the Loadout menu between fights. The loadout is locked during combat. Reset Items also allow respecialization, so spending one is a decision about several progression systems, not only the weapon tree.

Look ahead to the finisher

At Aberrant Strength 15, a finisher becomes available to purchase. Strike reaches the end of its primary sequence faster; Glaive's wider hits can suit a finisher that rewards contact with several targets. The finisher guide explains execution and role differences.
