Reach is obtained from the Fault in the Evacuation Zone. It lets Dylan pull toward spherical grapple points to cross gaps or access raised routes. It is a traversal unlock, not one of the combat choices offered after a Resonant boss.

Get past a Reach-gated route

  1. Follow the Evacuation Zone Fault

Complete its traversal sequence to obtain Reach.

  2. Look for a spherical anchor

Face the marked grapple point until the contextual prompt is available.

  3. Use the displayed input

Activate Reach to zip to the point, then continue your route.

Where the unlock becomes useful

Eastern Downtown provides a concrete example: the taxi route uses a Reach point at an elevator in the northeast to get past the high boundary into that part of the zone. If you are trying to reach the Downtown taxi before acquiring the power, searching the wall for an ordinary jump route will not solve that gate.

Reach is different from Shift

Reach targets an anchor. Shift changes orientation around gravity anomalies. A sideways street is not automatically a Reach puzzle, and an obvious gap is not necessarily a Shift surface. The developer's gameplay explanation describes them as complementary movement systems.

If no prompt appears

First confirm the ability was awarded by the Fault, then check that you are looking at an actual spherical anchor. Move to a clearer angle and use the button shown by your current control bindings. This is a navigation check, not a claim about a confirmed bug or a hidden distance value.

The abilities reference lists the other traversal unlocks. The map guide explains why marking a blocked route for a later return is often more useful than retrying it immediately.
